I am half Danish and spent my early years in Denmark before my family settled in North London. I studied graphic design at Central School of Art. Before concentrating on photography I worked for many years as a lighting designer in the professional theatre.
My work reflects both my design background and my theatre influences. I work almost exclusively in the studio and my images are constructed out of paper, string, wood and real objects. The photographs are taken on large format and digital cameras, creating images ranging from the abstract to the architectural without resorting to the use of digital manipulation to alter the physical structure of the composition. My primary interest lies in the tension created between how the eye sees and the brain interprets. The finished works I have professionally produced as Giclée prints on Fine Art paper.
My work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy and is part of the permanent collection at Citibank. A range of my pictures have been sold by the Conran Shop. I have lectured on special photographic techniques at Central St Martins. My work is held in private collections internationally. I was for several years represented by the Goldmark Gallery.
